One of the best parts of moving to the Gulf Coast has been the way community finds you in everyday places like at school drop-off and pick-up. That’s how I met my friend Leigh, through our daughters, who are in school together. When she invited me to photograph her family, it felt like such a natural extension of our friendship.
There’s a different kind of trust that comes when someone you know lets you step behind the lens and into their family’s world. Leigh gave me that gift, and I’m so grateful. For me, this wasn’t just another session, it was a chance to keep building my portfolio here locally, to show families what it feels like to have their story documented in a way that’s real, relaxed, and true to them.
What made this session even more special was that it included Leigh’s parents. There’s something so meaningful about capturing multiple generations together. The roots and the branches in one frame. It’s the kind of session that feels less like posed portraits and more like a living family history, where laughter, hugs, and quiet moments become the legacy photos you’ll treasure most.
Sessions like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. It’s not about perfection, it’s about memory. And Leigh’s family gave me so many beautiful ones to capture.
This session was photographed as part of The Greene Street Collection. An up to two-hour family session that gives us space to include extended family, multiple groupings, and plenty of relaxed time together. If you’ve been thinking about documenting your family, whether it’s just your crew or a full multi-generational gathering, this is the perfect way.
