Backyard sessions are some of my favorites because they capture family life in its most natural setting. This one was no exception. Surrounded by the comfort of home, Tess, her husband, and their daughter moved through an ordinary afternoon that became something worth remembering. Playing, pausing, laughing, and simply being together.


I'll also add that there’s something so special about photographing people you love, and this session reminded me of that in the best way. Tess has been such an anchor for me here, and getting the chance to step into her world and freeze a few of their everyday moments felt like such a gift.


These truly are some of my favorite photos EVER! Her daughter stomped around in her little wellies, the light filtered softly through the trees, and the pace felt unhurried. The photos show that balance of joy and calm. The kind of images that make you remember not just what a day looked like, but how it felt.


A gentle reminder for all of us that family photography doesn’t need a perfect backdrop. Sometimes the most meaningful stories unfold right at home, in the places you live every day.
